CHINESE 100/G

Translate the following text into Chinese characters. English words in brackets are
there to fill in information implied by the Chinese wording, rather than explicitly
stated. Therefore these words in brackets are not to be translated into Chinese. Use
characters that have been taught in Chapters 1-9. Use Hanyu Pinyin (with the
original tone marks) for the characters that have not been covered in Chapters 1-9.
You may also use Hanyu Pinyin for characters you have learned but cannot
remember, for partial marks. (30 marks)

There are two people outside. The person who is reading a book with glasses on is my
uncle (fathers younger brother). That child next to him is his youngest daughter, (who is)
called Xiaolan. Because they live in New Zealand, everyone in their family only knows how
to speak English.
(My) uncle used to sell old books across from the main entrance of the university before.
Now he no longer sells books. He says that (the life of) doing business is too busy. Xiaolan
likes Japanese stuff. The watch she wears is Japanese. She also has two Japanese-made
bicycles.
Its time for dinner. I didnt eat lunch, therefore (Im) very hungry. I ask them whether
they want to eat together. They say no. I think (presume) that they are (probably) not hungry.
