If you are using a computer on campus many of these resources allow you
access without logging on – this is because they recognise your computer
(through its I/P address) as belonging to Roehampton.
If you are off campus, and for a small number of resources if you are on
campus, then you will need to login to the resource using one of two
authentication systems – Shibboleth (also known as institutional login)
Finding an e-journal
If you know the title of the journal you can use the e-journal finder.
Type in the title of the journal and if Roehampton subscribes to this journal
you will find the years that the title is available online listed
Select the best link for you – some publishers do not allow access to the most
recent issues so look carefully at the dates available
Demo of journal title search
If not prompted, look for a link called Shibboleth login, Institutional login,
Login via your institution (may be small!).
Different resources will look slightly different. The illustrations below show you
examples of the three steps:
DON’T fill in any login boxes: these are for personal subscribers
Look for a link e.g. Shibboleth Login, Institutional Login, Academic
Login, Login via your institution. If you don’t see one:
Look for Login link (may then take you to Shibboleth Login link etc)
Link may be anywhere/any size on webpage (eg top right hand corner)
The login dialogue varies with software platform and may not include
all steps (identifying region/selecting Roehampton/logging in) e.g. you
may be taken straight to logging in
Previous browsing history may affect the dialogue e.g. it may
remember you are Roehampton or even your username and password
Note: In some cases with international services you may need to indicate that
you are from a UK institution (or UK Access Management Federation) before
seeing a list of institutions to choose from.
