Hector J Robinson Observatory - FAAC Flyer Directions

From Southfield Freeway (Allen Park and further West): Take Southfield road to Dix
Hwy. Turn Right at Dix (by Krogers). Head down about 1/2 mile until you reach
Champaign (left hand turn light). Turn left on Champaign and continue over the train
tracks and down past the Lincoln Park High School. The middle school parking lot is
the last school parking lot before Lafayette Street. Park in the Middle School Parking
lot.

From I75 (south of Detroit) Head north on I-75 until you get to Dix Hwy exit. You should
exit off Dix and turn at the first light which is Champaign Street. Continue over the train
tracks and down past the Lincoln Park High School. The middle school parking lot is
the last school parking lot before Lafayette Street. Park in the Middle School Parking
lot.

From northern Detroit or higher suburbs. Head south on I-75 until you get to Southfield
road exit. Exit Southfield road and head briefly west. Turn around on Southfield at the
first turn around (due to construction and possible blockage of Dix hwy.) Head back
toward Lafayette street or Fort Park or Fort Street. Youʼre probably better off going all
the way to Fort Street and turn right on any of these streets. You are about 1/2 mile
from Champaign. When you see the CVS store you turn right on Champaign and head
toward the middle school. (If you are on Fort Park or Fort Street youʼll see CVS) if you
are on Lafayette street youʼll see the middle school.

From Ecorse or Wyandotte area. Take southfield and turn right and then loop on Fort
Street, heading South until you see the CVS, then turn right.

The Blue Dot on the map

represents the observatory located
next to the tennis courts and
football field, by the middle school
and street.

Note: This is definately not a dark

sky site, and there is plenty of light
pollution from the parking lot lights
as well
