I grew up in Prince George County, Virginia and later went to Lynchburg, Virginia where I received my

undergraduate degree at Liberty University in Health Promotions. As a young college student, it never
once crossed my mind that teaching would be something I would find myself doing. This initial spark
and interest in education started my first year out of college when I began substitute teaching,
something I had only planned on doing temporarily. To my surprise, I found great joy in teaching young
people and since then I have continued to work with children in some capacity both in the private and
public sectors.

I enjoy staying active and love both watching and playing competitive sports. I had the privilege of
playing Division I tennis in college for a year and have had many opportunities to coach various
competitive sports at the junior varsity and varsity levels. I also love to travel when I get the chance and
find beauty in learning different cultures. In fact, I embrace language and culture and find that these are
the things that make us who we are and help us to connect with others around us. I have a greater
appreciation for language and culture having grown up speaking two languages. I lived in Costa Rica for
a year attending language school and volunteering in a nonprofit organization and through these
experiences I have picked up Spanish as my third language. I find these skills to be invaluable especially
in a world that has become so diverse and I look forward to continue using these languages as a tool to
help me learn and connect with others both in and out of the classroom.

Learning and being a part of others lives are my greatest passions in life. Joseph Joubert said in his
quote, “To teach is to learn twice.” What greater way to learn and grow both as an individual and
professional than to be able to teach others.
