STEPS IN ARTIFICIAL RESPIRATION

1. Check for responsiveness, tap or shake gently and shout “HEY SIR! HEY SIR! ARE YOU OKAY?”
2. Call for HELP
3. Position the victim. Turn if necessary
4. Open airway head- tilt- chin- lift maneuver
5. Check breathlessness (LOOK, LISTEN and FEEL for 3-5 seconds)
If breathless:
a. Give 2 initial ventilation
i. Check pulse for 5-10 seconds,
if not breathing but with pulse
1. Activate Medical Assistance or arrange transfer facility
(“Call for a physician or any suitable vehicle and report back while I perform AR”)
2. Perform rescue breathing
3. Recheck pulse and breathing for 5 seconds after 1 minute and continue AR until necessary
4. Succeeding rechecking should be after more than 1 minute of AR
5. Place the victim in recovery position

2. Perform CPR
