Discussion Group Leader Responsibilities

1. Discussion Group leaders set the agenda for each meeting and schedule speakers or tours
for the group.
2. Discussion Group leaders assign a note-taker for each meeting, and ensure that the
meeting notes are submitted to CCNet’s Communications team promptly for posting on
the website.
3. Discussion Group leaders are responsible for the integrity of the discussions that occur
amongst the group. This includes:
- Facilitating conversation so that every voice is heard
- Ensuring that no one individual or agenda dominates the discussion
- Identifying when expertise is needed and working to find that expertise
4. Discussion Group leaders are responsible for maintaining regular contact with the
assigned Advisory Committee member.
5. Discussion Group leaders will be asked to attend periodic meetings of the CCNet
Advisory Committee.
6. Discussion Group leaders will be asked to ensure that one blog post a month on their
topic gets written and submitted to the CCNet site. The intent is not to have the leader be
the sole author, but to involve other meeting attendees and members of the community in
the blogging project.

*Each Discussion will have 2-3 leaders, acting as co-chairs for the group

Discussion Group goals

1. To facilitate healthy discussions in the community that enable learning and facilitate
connections between people, organizations and resources.
2. To continually expand the reach of CCNet through engagement with a wide variety of
people and subjects. There are several ways to engage with CCNet:
- attend a meeting
- submit a blog post
- present ideas or materials at a meeting
- host a meeting or tour
- invite someone else to attend a meeting
