Authentic Assessment

Robust communication

Blending learning extends the school day. It doesn’t confine it to the school building. Evenings,
weekends, snow days, sick days

Project tomorrow: Speak up survey

3 Major components:

1. Content: What might kids need to see the 2 nd or 3rd time; What addl content can be provided for
reteach and intervention; what could be provided for enrichment and further study; what might
kids need to practice
2. Delivery: What is the most effective way to deliver; In what other ways can it be delivered to
differentiate instruction; Is bandwidth an issue, in and out of school.
3. Tools: What tools are supported by the learning management system; What other tools outside
the LMS can be integrated; Can duplication of effort be managed or eliminated?

Roadblocks

1. Time to develop resources and portal

2. Time to incorporate content into f2f schedule
3. Student access to computers at school
4. Student access to computers or internet at home
5. Student willingness to access content outside of school

START SMALL…START SLOW

Example: introduce 1 tool at a time. Unit 1 might have only content and links. Unit 2 add the discussion
board
