And Then There Were None

By Agatha Christie
A group of people have been invited to have a holiday at a mansion on the fictional Soldier

Island. This island, which created for this story, based upon a small island off the coast of Devon.

The story tells of ten people, who have previously been complicit in the deaths of others but

have escaped notice and punishment, are tricked into coming onto an island. They have been invited

to the island by an unknown couple named Mr. and Mrs. U.N.Owen who claim to know them, yet

none of them can recall who these person are.

Once these people reach the island, they are welcomed into a fancy house where they will be

staying. Each guest finds in his or her room a framed copy of the nursery rhyme "Ten Little

Soldiers" hanging on the wall.

After having a great dinner, the guests are gathered into the drawing room, where they hear

a voice recording accusing each guest of a past murder that was never uncovered.

The guests are startled and frightened by this recording because it reveals the horrific pasts of each

of them. Each guest from their party has never seen these so-called Mr. and Mrs. U.N.Owen, and

they realize that they were not there by means of a vacation.

Strange things start to take place on the island after one of the guests chokes to death, which

is exactly how an old nursery rhyme that each of the guests receives is written.

One by one the guests of the island start to die with the cause and murderer unidentified, which

each murder goes along with the nursery rhyme. With no one on the island except for themselves,

the guests conclude that the murderer must be one of them. In the end, when all of them are

murdered, a letter in a bottle just off the Devon coast found by a fisherman, where in it there’s a

confession from the murderer.
