ASPIRE – Term 3, 2010

How can we help?

This term our ASPIRE topic runs from week 6 – week 10. In the first
week we are looking at a variety of Health Organisations locally and
throughout New Zealand and looking at what they do for our
society.

From here you will be working either on your own or in groups of 2

or 3. You will select an organisation that you wish to support. You
will be looking in-depth at this particular organisation and at the
challenges that they face. You will contact experts and carry out
further research and look at ways we can support/assist this
organisation.

In week 10 you (or your group) will be presenting back to the class.

In class we will be looking at:

Starship Allergy
Diabetes St Johns
Blood Donor Canteen

You can then select your Health Organisation that you will be
supporting. If your parents have any ideas, contacts, information
please let me know.

From your last ASPIRE topic (Science Fair), some of your self
evaluations stated that you:

 Needed to use your time more wisely.

 Contact an expert and get more information.
 Proof read your work before presenting.
 Understand fully what you are talking about.
 Pick something that I am interested in.

Also please remember that you can work independently. If you do

want to work as a small group you all need to put in an equal
amount of time and effort. You all need to complete an ASPIE folder
with your notes, research and plans in it.
There will be no homework in week 7, 8 and 9 as you will have to do
a lot of work in your own time!!!!!
