    RedHat Enterprise 4 Install

    1. Boot to CD #1
    2. Skip media test
    3. Select English defaults
    4. Select the defaults to setup the hardware and partitions.
    5. DO NOT enable the firewall (or configure it) – as well as disabling “SE Linux”
    6. Select English and EST time zone
    7. Root password setup
    8. Select to “Customize Software Packages”
    a. XWINDOW - ALL
    b. GNOME - ALL
    c. EDITORS - ALL
    d. ENGINEERING AND SCIENTIFIC - ALL
    e. GRAPHICAL INTERNET - ALL
    f. TEXT BASED INTERNET - elinks,cadaver
    g. AUTHORING AND PUBLISHING - ALL
    h. GRAPHICS - ALL
    i. SERVER CONFIGURATION TOOL - Everything but
    “system-switch-mail-gnome” and “system-switch-mail”
    j. WEB SERVER - ALL
    k. MAIL SERVER - “sendmail” and
    “sendmail-cf”
    l. MYSQL - ALL
    m. DEVELOPMENT TOOLS - ALL
    n. X SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT - ALL
    o. GNOME SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT - ALL
    p. LEGACY SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT - ALL
    q. ADMINISTRATION TOOLS - ALL
    r. SYSTEM TOOLS - ALL
    s. PRINTING SUPPORT - DISABLE

    9. Select “Next” and the install starts prompting you for the required CD’s
    10. Complete install
