Time to End U.S.

Union Support for

Israel’s Anti-Palestinian and Anti-Union Government
In October 2009 the Executive Board of the Greater New Haven AFL-CIO voted
unanimously to call for the state AFL-CIO to sell off its Israel bonds and invest in the
U.S.

U.S. unions and worker pension funds have millions in bonds that support the Israeli
government, a government that routinely violates Palestinian rights and promotes
privatization and income inequality.

The Israeli government record of oppression and discrimination against Palestinians is

infamous worldwide

The Israeli government has acted outrageously toward Palestinian unions.

In 2008 the Israeli Air Force blew up the headquarters in Gaza of the trade union
federation, the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions as it did in 2004 in
Nablus. In 2009 Israeli jets attacked the building of the University Teachers Association-
Palestine causing severe damage.

The Israeli trade union Histadrut has been severely weakened by decades of
privatizations by Israeli governments

Unions worldwide are protesting Israeli government actions with boycotts and other
forms of pressure.

We call on U.S. unions to sell off their Israel bonds and to join in the worldwide
campaign of BDS.

We call on organizations to join in campaigns to encourage unions to dump the bonds.
