CA. Uttam Prakash Agarwal, is the former President (2009-10) of the Institute of Chartered
Accountants of India. A holder of the “Recognition of Excellence Award” awarded by the President
of India, Her Excellency Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, CA Uttam Prakash Agarwal has an
experience in various matters related to taxation, assurance, arbitration and advisory services for over
21 years. He also holds the honorary membership of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia
which has been recently awarded to him.
Over his professional career span, he has handled the following positions:
• Technical Advisor on the Board of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Developing
Nations Committee (DNC) of IFAC and Small and Medium Practices Committee (SMP) of IFAC.

He has been instrumental in various initiatives of the ICAI such as release of publications, newsletters,
presentations on the Union Budget, setting up of the exam centers, etc
He has been a representative on various Government boards and held various Government posts such as Treasurer
of Mumbai Mayor Fund in 2003, Officer on Special Duty to the Government of Maharashtra from 1997 till 2000,
Member of Station Consultative Committee Mumbai Central (W.R) (1997-2001), Institute’s Representative on the
Task Force of Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) for providing professional and technical support in the
process of finalization of MOU documents, Membership held of the Expert Group constituted by CBDT and has
also acted as arbitrator in National Internet Exchange of India and Bombay Stock Exchange.

students), Earlier was Treasurer for Community Aids and Sponsorship Programme jointly with Dr.
