What is an event??

An event can be described as a public assembly for


the purpose of celebration, education , marketing, or
reunion.

the Olympics down to a breakfast meeting for ten business

Event Management is a multi-million dollar industry, growing


rapidly, with the rate of 150% annum with mega shows and
events hosted regularly

The early 90s has seen events spend at a mere 20 crores but
now is has increased to over 2000 crores, per annum.

It is known to be a Rs. 500 crore industry. And is steadily


rising.

At present, the industry is at a nascent stage and extremely
unorganized, comprising mainly homemakers and self-
employed businessmen.
Event managers are in great demand with the rise in
corporate and personal events needing professionals to
manage them.
Rising household as well as company incomes, increases the
number of events (corporate awards, conferences, television
& reality shows ,sports events,etc.) are helping in growth of
this sector.
The market for event management in India is expected to
witness growth of 25% p.a. and reach INR 23 billion by 2012.
Few institutes offer specialized training for this industry.

An event management is a niche communication medium


that allows companies to reach their target audience
directly with tangible outcomes, which are not possible
through conventional forms of advertisement.

Brand awareness reinforces the product or service, and


drives sales.
