Invitation to Academic Activities at the University of Oxford

On behalf of the Brazilian Studies Programe (BSP) of the Latin American Centre, University of Oxford, I would
like to invite you to visit the University and engage in two academic activities during the first week of
December, 2010.

On 1st December 2010, the BSP has scheduled a screening of your new film, Arquitetos do Poder. We would
very much appreciate it if you would introduce the film and provide a companion lecture to our graduate
students and faculty. This event will be open to the community at large.

On 3rd December 2010, the BSP will sponsor an international workshop on “Political Consequences of Declining
Inequality in Brazil.” One of the themes of this workshop will concern how poverty reduction is being reflected
in current media and political communication strategies. We would be delighted to have you as a full participant
in this workshop, the proceedings of which will be published as an edited volume in 2011. I am attaching the
workshop programme for the event.

It would be a pleasure to have you engaged in these activities, which will certainly benefit our postgraduates and
researchers at the Latin American Centre as well as strengthen links of cooperation between Oxford and UERJ.
