We had to buy 4 in order to finally get an original LnS Operating Guide!

When we ‘discovered’ the unique Land n’ Sea Craft 5 years ago we definitely did not
consider them a collectible. However.... in true obsessive style in our quest to own a run-
ning LnS with twin engines and a flying bridge (Model III) we have somehow ended up
with 4 of these great old girls!
First (left) was a model I, with one engine and no flying bridge purchased in
Farmington, NM. where she had been ‘cruising’ Navajo Lake. She now lives on the
Snake River in Clarkston, WA. Small pic shows her on Wallowa Lake, Joseph, OR
with Brent’s grandkids enjoying her immensely before we took her to Clarkston.
Next came a model III (on right), that had been located in Friday Harbor in the San
Juan Islands and in Sydney, Vancouver Island, BC. A won-
derful boat with the drawback that the last owner cut out
her transom in order to sell her engines. Since that time we
found an old Bayliner with two rebuilt 4 cylinder Volvos and
outdrives that are awaiting installation in this boat when we
get the transom rebuilt. We named ‘Frances Caryll’.
Not crazy enough yet we then purchased another model III,
(on left), also without engines or outdrives. She spent her
glory days in Alaska and has a trailer that was beefed up to
handle the infamous Alcan highway. We named ‘Copasetic’
In the meantime Gail’s brother thought he would like to
join the fun so Sam called on an ad for another model III,
(in center). The brother decided he wasn’t ready - so you
guessed it, we couldn’t resist. The good news - this one
has engines and outdrives! Not trouble free, we have had
to rebuild one head, and one outdrive refuses to go up and
down, but heck, we feel way ahead of the game with this
one! She had been owned by a former Land n’ Sea dealer
in CA until two years ago. We named ‘C. Sea Rider’
We assume, and hope, that anyone with enough interest to
read this also loves and respects these versatile boats, and
will understand our apparent loss of sanity!

 When we purchased our second boat, Francis Caryll, we received what we were told was an
original Operators Guide. This was bound by a binder and consisted of poor copies on the old slick
copy paper which was very gray. Attempts to scan did not yield very good results.
Therefore, when we got the last boat, C. Sea Rider, and the owner graciously gave us a bona
fide, and oh so rare, original LnS Operators Guide obtained from the former Land N’ Sea dealer, we
were ecstatic.
Following is a copy of the original 1973 Land n’ Sea owners manual which turns out to be a pam-
phlet consisting of 8.5” x 11” pages of heavy blue paper folded in half and stapled. We did not want
to risk damaging this little treasure by taking it apart to lay flat to scan so did our best.
The cover was very weathered and worn, but the manual is very legible. The wiring schematic
and floor plan pages were inserted as foldouts.
We included some additional pages after the original manual including a blow up of the wiring
schematic, and two supplements that were mailed to owners after their purchase.
The manual will be easy to reproduce in word, but we thought people might like to see it in its’
original form.

ORIGINAL LAND N’ SEA MEMORABILIA

We were thrilled to find that 20 original 4 page slick brochures, 5.5” x 8.5” with the first page in full color, and 10 original 4-part sales
contracts came with C. Sea Rider (owned by an former Land n’ Sea dealer). When we have them organized we will be offering these
for sale. We feel they are truly unique and the first we have ever seen in five years of hunting LnS information. We also received a lot of
information with Frances Caryll and can offer copies of 1972 and 1977 price lists (very interesting) and several magazine articles, includ-
ing a long article about 5 LnS’s cruising to Alaska, offered as part of the same package, as well as copies of another 4 page brochure, 8.5”
x 11”. Maybe the most unusual piece will be a copy of a letter to Land N’ Sea stockholders relating the fact that the stock returned 100%
in 1972! These items will be offered in a set - true collectors items!
