ACA – OPEN WATER EXPEDITION COURSE

Course Overview
Refine basic strokes and rescue techniques and develop open water skills and advanced
paddling strokes. Also includes leadership training and risk and group management.

Course Location and Conditions


Ideal teaching conditions are a protected cove for working on basic strokes, rescues and
manouvers, with quick access to open water or variable conditions.

For open water certification conditions must be 11 to 16 knots wind, 3 feet surf and 3
knots current.

Course Duration
Five Days

Equipment
Every paddler needs to have a single kayak, spray skirt, PFD, helmet, paddle float, bilge
pump, sponge, spare paddle, tow cable, dressed for imersion (dry suit or wet suit),
paddling jacket, sun hat, sun glasses, dry bag with extra clothes.

One video camera and a TV is needed for filming and watching


student’s strokes.
