Finmeccanica and its companies AnsaldoBreda, Ansaldo STS and SELEX Communications take part
at Innotrans 2010 - International Trade Fair for Transport Technology, September 21-24 in Berlin.

Through its subsidiaries, Finmeccanica is one of the international leading technology companies
operating in the global Railway & Mass Transit Transportation business with the provision of turn-key
systems traffic management, planning, train control, signalling systems, telecommunication systems,
components, operation and maintenance, design and manufacture of complete vehicle for mass
transit, main line and high speed lines. AnsaldoBreda, Ansaldo STS and SELEX Communications are
present in worldwide rail markets. The most important realizations are in USA, Europe, Asia, Middle
East and North Africa. In Germany Ansaldo STS has recently consolidated its presence in the
signalling and transportation solutions markets through its subsidiary Ansaldo STS Deutschland, born
to design, build, install and put into operation signalling equipment for the High Speed line of German
Railways Deutch Bahn AG.

Finmeccanica companies can provide other systems, services and products in the sector of
Transportation, through SELEX Sistemi Integrati (Railway and vehicle Safety & Security), Elsag
Datamat (e-payment) and Telespazio (internet on board).

AnsaldoBreda displays the Metro Vehicle – Rome Line C and a model of the Very High Speed train.
Developed in cooperation with Bombardier for the European markets, the Very High Speed train has a
max speed of about 400 kph with an operation speed of 360 kph. The train is multi voltage and fully
TSI compliant, that means it can run on the most of the European railway networks. The Metro Vehicle
– Rome Line C is the first driverless heavy metro in Europe. On the track three married coaches will
be on display. Equipped with the state of the art technology and air conditioned, each train is made of
six cars, 3+3, with four motor cars and two trailers totally.

Ansaldo STS presents its projects ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System) level 1 & 2
for the high speed line section from Saarbrucken to Mannheim and CBTC (Communications-Based
Train Control) & Driverless technologies for the Taipei metro circular line. The company also shows its
Train Conformity Check System (TCCS), Tramwave and Security Management System (SMS).
The ERTMS level 1 & 2 project represents the first real application of this new technology in Germany
(after the Berlin-Leipzig pilot project) on a line - part of the POS North interoperable corridor that links
Frankfurt to Paris for which Ansaldo STS has already provided signalling for the entire French section
that crosses national borders and currently uses traditional signalling equipment. Ansaldo STS’
ERTMS system will guarantee the highest level of safety of the line and flexibility of the operation and
ensure the interoperability for all the trains of other countries interested in the corridor equipped with
the same technology. The CBTC is the most advanced signalling system for metro transport available
on the market. The project presented at Innotrans covers the first phase of a circular line for the Taipei
Metro and involves an integrated turnkey system for the construction of the electromechanical
installations and the supply of rolling stock for a line around 15.5 km long. TCCS™ is a high
performance wayside monitoring system that checks the conditions of trains running through a check
point along a given line. It works at full speed and does not constrain the operation of regular trains;
Tramwave system is a ground-level power supply system that feeds electrical current to tramlines

Finmeccanica plays a leading role in the global aerospace and defence industry, and participates in some of the sector’s biggest international programmes through its
group companies and well-established alliances with European and US partners. A leader in the design and manufacture of helicopters, defence and security electronics,
civil and military aircraft, aerostructures, satellites, space infrastructure and defence systems, Finmeccanica is Italy’s leading high-tech company. It also boasts significant
manufacturing assets and skills in the transport and energy sectors; it is listed on the Milan stock market and operates via a number of group companies and joint
ventures. At the end of May 2010, the Finmeccanica Group had about 77,000 employees, including almost 12,000 in the US, about 10,000 in the UK, almost 4,300 in
Poland, approximately 3,700 in France and more than 1,000 in Germany. As part of its drive to maintain and build on its technological excellence, Finmeccanica spends
11% of its revenues on Research and Development.
safely and efficiently without using catenaries or batteries and without creating traffic barriers. The
system can be integrated in any make or model of tram regardless of the supplier, even on currently
existing fleets; the Security Management System (SMS) is an intelligent software application allowing
for the review, analysis, control, command and follow up of all security installations in one single, user-
friendly interface. The SMS minimizes the risk of false alarms, therefore optimizing security resources.

SELEX Communications exhibits its Railways communications systems and equipment: RaCE 2500;
GSC2300: ETCS Data Only Radio and RGG200. RaCE2500 CAB Radio is an innovative solution to
support all GSM-R communications features. It provides voice and data transmission for on board
applications with reduced weight and size; GSC2300 is a radio subsystem designed for vital data
signaling transmission applications and provides redundancy by the use of two identical sections;
RGG200 is a small, light and compact GSM-R handheld: it is the easiest solution for all personnel
along the track and on the train that communicate over GSM-R. SELEX Communications also displays
its on-board integrated IP-based telecommunication system of the new driverless Line C metro of
Rome composed by: Passenger Information System, TVCC for video-information and info-
entertainment, Video-surveillance, sound diffusion, S.O.S. interphone, TETRA vehicular radio and
WiNN for the on-board data flow management.
