SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS

• Disabled people constitute a significant 5 to 6 percentage of the population of

India.
• However their needs for meaningful employment remain unmet, in spite of the
implementation of the `The People with Disabilities' Act three years ago
• This Act reserves 3% of all categories of jobs in the public sector industries for
disabled persons, and incentives for public and private sector companies, that
have at least 5% of their workforce comprising of disabled persons.
• Of the approximately 70 million people with disabilities in India, only about 0.1
million have succeeded in getting employment in the industries till now.
• The industries can however, play a more emphatic role because of their vast
employment generating potential and the financial power.

OBJECTIVE

• Protection of rights, equal opportunity and full participation for the persons with
Disabilities .
• To help disabled people to become self dependent
• To encourage them acquire job.
• To develop some skills in them

KEY MESSAGES

Providing equal status and creating opportunities to the disabled as everyone has a right
to live and earn.

TARGET AUDIENCE

• Physically disabled people

• Age group : 18 to 45
• Male and female

STRATEGY
 • Organizing an event for creating awareness among the disabled people about the
kind of jobs that are available to them.
• The face of the event will be Sudha Chandran.
• She will motivate people for applying for jobs even with their disability.
• She will also encourage them to learn some form of art and earn a living for
themselves.
• A short film screening representing the current plight of disabled with respect to
employment.
• NGO like Akshaya Rehabilitation Trust in Madurai works for the betterment of the
disabled people.
• They can volunteer and provide assistance in conduction of the event.
• The NGO will help in reaching out to disabled people and encourage them to apply
for jobs.
• The NGO will also provide assistance in approaching different companies or
employment agencies and ask them to provide employment to physically disabled
people.

TACTICS

• Conduct a press conference for the event with Sudha Chandran as the
spokesperson.
• People will be placed outside schools, shopping malls and
colleges ,passing pamphlets and leaflets giving information about the employment
program.
• Make a short documentary film to create awareness.
• Formation of Disability Youth Forums for women, men and students with disability.
• Conduct workshops to explore and develop skills among the physically impaired
people.
• Conducting exhibitions for displaying the artwork prepared by such people and the
money collected can be used for providing various facilities to them.
• Posters and banners can be put up for providing information about the workshop
and exhibitions.

EVALUATION

• We hope to bring about awareness among as many disabled people as possible

about the various job opportunities available to them.
• The number of people who will attend the workshop.
• The number of people who will get employed in the corporate.
• The number of people who attend the exhibition and the amount of funds raised
through it.
