In this weeks colloquium we started off by discussing how do

individuals determine whether some works of art may be inappropriate or

acceptable to the pubic. We started out this discussion by reading a work

called Evaluate Criticism. This work provided the reader with many pictures.

These pictures were artworks that may have been viewed as inappropriate,

for example, the artwork called This little piggy went to the market, this little

piggy stayed at home. This artwork was viewed inappropriate because ut is a

real pig cut in half. Some people found this disgusting, and other critics

found this work as a masterpiece. Another work that was viewed

inappropriate was the Holy Virgin Mary, by Chris Ofili. This work was

viewed inappropriate mostly because of the name. It is a dark skinned lady

with genitals surrounding her body. Many religious individuals would find

this work inappropriate and or unacceptable. Overall I think that this weeks

colloquium was both exiting and a little disturbing in the scene of the

artworks. I cant wait for next weeks class.
