Jesse Lajara

This weeks colloquium started at 4:00. we started off by

discussing the fact that Willy disrespected the teacher in systems of society

class. He said that he felt like the teacher disrespected him because she told

him that he could not laugh in the class because she thought they were

making jokes about her. Willy then responded in a disrespectful manner and

kept on laughing. He later left the class as a result to his anger. He explained

in the colloquium that he was just standing up to her because he felt as if she

bullies most of the people in the class. The teacher then told everyone to say

how they felt about the situation. Most of the people in the class said that he

disrespected her. It was later my turn to talk and I said that they both had

their mistakes in handling the situation. Willy should not have kept on

laughing and the teacher should not have put him in the spotlight so to speak.

After this we heard a presentation from a student not from our colloquium.

She talked about a man named Vincent Van Gogh. He was considered a

crazy individual because he did not have a great personality. He had epilepsy

and he would always draw paintings that looked, in my opinion, depressing.

Overall this weeks colloquium class was exiting and we now understand why

Willy disrespected the teacher and we are okay with it because he apologized

to the class. We also learned a lot about art as well due to the presentation. I

am looking forward to next weeks colloquium.
