Shock

from A Nightmare Before Christmas

Need to Have:
4mm crochet hook
Small amounts of DK wool in black, purple, green
Darning needle for sewing up
Small amount of toy stuffing

Need to Know:
st – stitch
slst – slip stitch
ch - chain
dc – double crochet
tc – treble crochet
dc2tog – work 2dc together to decrease

Need to Do:

Hat – start at point

ch 2, work 5dc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join

Working in a spiral dc in each st until work measures 2 inches. Mark last st

2dc in each dc (10sts)


1dc in each dc for two rnds

Brim

working through FRONT loops only 2tc in each dc, join with slst in top of 1st tc (20sts)

ch 3, workinf through BOTH loops * 2tc in next tc, 1tc in next tc, rep from * til last st, 2tc, join
with slst in 3rd ch of starting ch.

Fasten off.

Head

Join green to the Back loops of brim. Ch 1,1dc in same sp as ch, 1dc in each st, join with slst in 1st
ch (10sts)

ch 1, 1 dc in each dc, join with slst.


Repeat this round 4 more times.

Add small amount of stuffing to head at this point.

Ch 1, 1dc, dc2tog, 1dc, dc2tog, 1dc, dc2tog, 1dc, join with slst (7sts)
ch 1, 1dc in each dc, join with slst.

Body

Change to purple.
Ch 1, 2dc in each dc, join with slst (14sts)

Ch 1, 1dc in each dc, join with slst.


Repeat round 8 more times.

Add stuffing to body at this point.

Ch 1, dc2tog 7 times, join with slst


Ch1, 1, dc2tog 3 times, 1dc, join with slst. Fasten off.

Finishing off and adding face and hair.

Sew in loose ends. Using green wrap around neck to give some definition. Tie securely and sew in
loose ends.

Nose – using green work several stitches in centre of face. Sew in loose ends securely.

Eyes and Mouth – use black and work a horizontal stitch on either side of nose. Add a down turned
mouth under nose. Sew in loose ends securely

Hair – cut four 4 inch lengths of black wool. Knot these around a dc at top of head, just under hat
brim. Space evenly around back of head. Untwist the fibres of the wool to give fingers-in-the-socket
look. You may need to trim them for and even finish.
