India: GSPC finds fresh oil in Gujarat

the SE-10 location
in Cambay last
week.
While details on
fresh flow rates at
SE-10 are awaited,
GSPC is learnt to
have c ompleted
reserve evaluation
work for all its finds
in the block during
the last one year.
The Declaration of
c ommerc iality (DOC)
is being forwarded
to the Directorate
General of
Hydrocarbons (DGH)
for approval.
Up until now 17 wells have been drilled at CB-ONN-2002/3. Of the total wells drilled, 7 exploration
wells, the SE-2, SE-3, SE-4, SE-8 and SE-9, SE-10, SE-11 were drilled in Part-A of the bloc k and 7
exploration wells, the M-1, M-4, M-2, M-5, M-6, M-3 and M-7 were drilled in Part-B. Two wells, the
M-4 and M-2 have been abandoned.
Last year GSPC secured a one-year extension for completion of the drilling programme under the first
phase. The onshore block is spread over an area of 285 sq km and is divided into two parts, Part A
(Sanand) 132 sq km and Part B (Miroli) 153 sq km.
The testing for hydroc arbon prospec t recently c ulminated in two wells, the M-7 and SE-8, while
another well, M-3, has been identified for testing.
The c onsortium has made five discoveries, the M-1, M-6, SE-2, SE-4 and SE-8 so far in the bloc k.
GSPC is the operator of the NELP-IV bloc k, with a 60% majority partic ipating interest (PI) with
Jubilant holding a 30% stake, and GeoGlobal Resources 10%.
The Cambay basin already c ontains a number of proven oil and gas zones.
