    DOMESTIC TERRORISM
     Occurs within the borders of a particular
    country.
     Associated with extremist groups.
     Example: Sendero Luminiso (the Shining Path)
    in Peru.

    NATIONALIST TERRORISM
     Promotes the interests of minority ethnic /
    religious group.
     Believed they have been prosecuted under
    majority rule.
     Wished to create its own independent
    homeland.
     Example: the Irish Republican Army (IRA).
    RELIGIOUS TERRORISM
     Believe on divine mission, i.e. executing God’s orders.
     3 reasons :

    1) Violence is a sacramental act or divine duty according to


    theology.
    2) Large-scale and indiscriminate violence as necessary for
    achieving goals.
    3) Believed modifying system is not sufficient, yet seek a
    fundamental changes.
    Example: Japanese terrorist group, Aum Supreme Truth
    implement deadly attacks on innocent Japanese in 1995
    under the watchful eyes of Shiva, the Hindu god of
    destruction and rebirth.
