A Single Crow

Written by Oliver Williams

If thunder strikes a human ear,

and lightning strikes an eye,
where is the pain that comes from fear,
falling from the sullen sky?

The clouds that lost their tranquil peace,

have shaken earth below,
stirring birds and wild geese,
disturbing not a single crow.

The waters, rippling, in response,

are tears from those who cry,
tortured by the vile taunts,
emerging from the shaken sky.

Where is the pain that comes from fear,

the gloom that comes from woe?
If thunder strikes a human ear,
it won’t disturb a single crow.
