41. How to create a quorum disk between two or more cluster nodes?
When creating a cluster which needs a shared storage drive, called a Quorum, fol
low these steps:
-When installing the cluster, do not choose local quorum, or majority set node,
since a physical disk needs to be shared.
-If a Local Quorum is already set, do not select this resource when creating the
cluster.
-Create a two partitions, one on each server, and create a physical disk by addi
ng a resource under the cluster group name.
-The partitions must be on a seperate disk controller not connected to the syste
m's main drive.
-Each partition must be no larger than 1GB in size.
This resource will be available throughout the cluster and will be shared by all
of the nodes.
42. Cluster - cluster servers is used for providing hardware and software redund
ancy for an application such as Exchange server 2003. By creating a cluster you
ensure that there is no single point of failure with your server hardware that w
ould cause e-mail services goes offline.
we can create clusters by two ways -
1. Network Load Balancing (Server Fail aware uses - heartbeats)
2. Microsoft Cluster Service. (aaplication fal aware) (Quorum di
sk is required , which saves the cluster configurations and setting of cluster.
It is a shared physical disk.)
A cluster is a group of servers in which if a server is failed then the other se
rver will take over the application handling and application will not goes down.
The group of servers is refereced with one IP and one network name.
