MORE THAN 700 GANGS ARE
ACTIVE IN UNITED STATES AND
ARE GROWING EVERY
SECOND…
IN LOS ANGELES THE FIRST TO GANGS
WERE CALLED BLOODS AND CRIPS.
 The CRIPS were founded in 1969 by a 15 year old
boy name Raymond Washington.
 The BLOODS were founded in 1989 by LA Brims, Denver Lanes, the
Inglewood Family, the Swans, and
the Pueblo Bishops.
“War on gangs” is a project that was founded
to stop the gang violence going on in LA.
There are still many gangs in LA today. For example :

 EIGHTEEN STREET, CLANTON FOURTEEN ST,

FROGTOWN RIVERSIDE, VENICE, CULVER CITY
BOYS, SANTA MONICA, MARA SALVATRUCHA,
HARPYS, SOTEL, PLAYBOYS, REBELS, TEMPLE ST,
ECHO PARK.
Devil Disiples, Latin kings,GayLords was one of the
biggest gangs in Chicago.
the project going on in Chicago to stop the
gangs evolution is called Chicago Area Project
also known as the CAP
Leader of the devil Disiples was David Barksdale.
There are five original major prison gangs known
as "Traditional Prison Gangs." formed in the 1960's
and 1970's in the California corrections system.

The correctional system are trying to bring down the gang member rate by having insiders in the gang giving info about the
gang members, there crimes , future crimes. They also try place different gang members of different groups in workshops.
Prison gangs are still going on how much you try to
stop them. Theirs even more gangs now. Some are
big and some are small.
Here in our native city of san Francisco ..
We are also apart of this gang violence .

improve the gang violence by a project
called gang injunction.

 Gangs- a group of people that have something in
common, The group may or may not commit violent
acts to their society around them.
 Gangs will never be stopped; no matter how hard
you try .
 Gangs have just became a way of life.
 Gangs have been going on for centuries.
 Gangs see themselves as if they were a family;
they stick together through thick and thin.
