Artifact 1: Code of Hammurabi
 Description: Most
complete extant collection
of Babylonian laws,
developed during the of
Hammurabi
 Explaination: This Code
created a more equal
system for all
Hammurabi's subjects. But
Hammurabi's subjects
were not considered social
equals and different
groups were treated
differently by the laws.
Artifact 2: Ancient Egypt
 Description: The fertile land
on the banks of the Nile
were used to grow their
crops. This was the only
land in ancient Egypt that
could be farmed because a
layer of rich, black silt was
deposited there every year
after the Nile flooded.
 Explanation: Ancient
Egyptians could solve
arithmetic, geometry, and
even word problems. They
even did internal and
external medicine.
Artifact 3: Ancient India
 Description: The Indus
Valley Civilization
corresponds to the
ancient cultures of
Mesopotamia, Egypt, and
China. It was located in
present day Pakistan
along the Indus River.
 Explaination: They began
to practice dentistry by
7000 BCE. By 2800 BCE
private bathrooms were
in most houses.
Artifact 4: Ancient China
 Description: China also
had a river civilization
and the earliest
civilization developed
along the Huang He or
Yellow River. The
climate and
geographical features
are as diverse as those
of the United States.
 Explanation: They
Standardized writing
and language ,
Standardized money,
Standardized system of
measurement.
