National Resource Assessment (NRA) and Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission (FWC)
has been monitoring Beach Mouse habitat/activity and has reduced beach operating areas
that the Deepwater Horizon personnel can inspect and clean so as to not interfere with the
Beach Mouse.

o This decision has provided greater opportunity for beach areas authorized to be
inspected and cleaned to be visited at a higher frequency.

o Currently the following is the tentative schedule and will be maintained within
response leadership direction:

 St. George Island, West – FC 2 (021-038) Monday, Tuesday and Saturday

 St. George Island, East – FC 2 (039-057) and FC3 (001-021) Tuesday,
Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
 Carrabelle Beach and St. Teresa Beach – FC 3 (053-059) and FC4 (001-030)
Monday and Wednesday.
 Alligator Point and Ochlockonee Bay Beach – FC4 (066-085) Thursday and
Sunday.

Inspection and cleaning teams:

o When assigned, each team will be composed of: 1 Supervisor, 2 HazMat Techs and
1 Coast Guard or 1 National Resource Assessment (NRA) rep. Team will utilize
one 4 passenger Orange Utility Vehicle (UTV). No additional personnel will be
authorized or assigned.

Because of turtle nesting and hatching, all UTVs are required to utilize a drag device to
smooth sand behind the UTV to prevent tire tracks from interfering with turtle movement
to water after hatching.
