Wenger Gallery opened its doors in 1987 as Double Heart Country Art. These
“Double Hearts” were Shirley Wenger and Amish Artist Susie Riehl. Beginning in the
garage of the Wenger home, Rieh’s art was marketed locally in Lancaster County. As
demand grew for her works, so did the need to expand. A storefront was soon opened
in the village of Intercourse and a custom framing department was added to the ever-
expanding gallery. In 1995, the gallery relocated to the Ronks site and began to offer
the works of other local and national artists.
