Vincent Van Gogh was the eldest of six children of a


Protestant pastor, and remained with his brother Theo, four years younger than him, a
relationship that could be decisive in its existence.

After receiving a good education at a private boarding school, at sixteen he was


apprenticed to the Hague branch of the Parisian art gallery Goupil & Cie., Founded by his
uncle Vincent, where he met the works of the Barbizon school.

Fault caused by dependence on his brother Theo and his professional failure. Immersed in
this situation of distress, on 27 July forcible unlocking Van Gogh was shot in the chest and
died two days later.
