Part time MBA has gained importance in the recent times due to the reason that for many professionals
it becomes difficult to pursue a Masters in Management (MBA) full time. This degree enables them to
continue the employment and give time to their families along with moving ahead in their careers.

As per a study conducted in 2007 by GMAC, return on investment for part-time MBA is more than full
time MBA and also pay back period is shorter. The cost of part time MBA is more than double as
compared to regular MBA degree. Looking at this cost may be slightly misleading for the reason that
assistance is provided the employer in the form of tuition fees for part time students. This programme
requires course work as compared to full time programme.

Before applying for part time MBA there are number of things to consider. First thing which matters
most is the flexibility. The classes are conducted at weekends mostly after the sunset. The classes are in

Part time MBA in the recent years have gained so much importance and acceptance that the demand for
the regular MBA programme has declined by about 10%. One reason behind it may be that the students
applying for this course have a work experience of 3-4 years and after having this course this adds value
to their existing experience. After completion of this course they are offered higher salary as compared
to the pass outs of the regular MBA degree holders.

Organizations find them self are comfortable to appoint these pass out slightly because they have higher
level of understanding in dealing with the different problems of the organization when compared to
regular MBA degree holder who takes a longer time.

Another good reason to add is the higher level of involment in the job because they are already highly
experienced and the theories learnt during MBA programme helps them to deal with the market
condition in a better and intelligent way.

Most of the organization are encouraging their top level man agent guys to go for this course solely
because of the reason they believe that this will add value to their employees and ultimately to their
organization in this throat cutting competitive corporate world. Money does not matters to them and
provide full assistance for completing this degree.

Most popular subjects in the part time MBA are Marketing, Human Resources, Finance and Information
Technology. These specializations are offered in almost all the B-schools and university. Apart from
these specializations many other such as Tourism, Bio-technology, and fashion designing… are being
offered after analyzing the need for these courses for the young and dynamic managers.

The only word of caution is too choose right B-school for this course. As the demand is high many
institute have started this course. It is advisable to have this degree from a reputed university, college as
this will increase not only the chances of being placed in the top organization but also the degree of
knowledge is much superior to the colleges who have started this course recently.
