Democracy is a method of deciding who shall rule.

It does not determine the morality of the resulting

government. At best, democracy means that government has popular support. But popular support is no
guarantee that government will protect your freedom. While democracy doesn’t guarantee either freedom or
peace, there are many historical examples of societies that didn’t have either elections or legislatures, but in
which people’s rights were strongly protected.

It is an undeniable fact that Pakistan was developed fast and more peaceful, had greater freedom
under Musharaf, but look at Pakistans democracy, it is a huge mess and the rulers have become
american mercenaries and hired guns, bringing eventual ruin even to India within the next 20
years unless we play safe with americans

To achieve a free and peaceful world, we must restore freedom and individual liberty, not democracy. In the
current day scenario, with inflation that has sky rocketed, terrorism, power outrage, non availability of
opportunities to improve one’s lot, is it not important to have a man(or a woman) who delivers? Till when do
we have to beat the drum of “democracy” thrust on us by vested interest groups? The first step that must be
taken is to conduct in-party elections on every three yearly basis. However, merit must govern, not heredity.
No one, must be allowed to contest more than twice for a party seat. The same must hold good for the MNA
and MPA elections as well.

Some people argue that democracy (liberal or otherwise) is not suited to the sensibilities
of the people in Pakistan. Some others argue that education and economic development
are prerequisites for the establishment of a democratic polity. Still some others reject
democracy as simply a Western notion which has no place within an Islamic society.
Irrespective of the power of these views, one needs to explore the meaning of democracy
for a country like Pakistan.

Democracy is better than dictatorship or totalitarian government at any time. The most important
difference is election of leaders. If one leader is not good in a democracy, the people can elect
another leader. The people have a voice and the media play an important role.In other forms of
government the people cannot voice their opinion leave alone the electoral process. In a
democratic system each individual and every individual can express an opinion without breaking
the laws.In dictatorships the government tells the people what to do and the society degenerates
as their thought process id suppressed.
