Social problem also called social issues, affect every society, great and small.

Even in
relatively, sparsely populated areas, a group will encounter social problem. Part of this
is due to the fact that any members of a society living close enough together will have
conflicts. It’s virtually impossible to avoid them, and even people who live together in the
same house don’t always get along seamlessly. On the whole though, when social
problem are mentioned they tend to refer to the problem that affect people living
together in a society.

The list of social problem is huge and not identical from area, in the US, some
predominant social issues include the growing divide between rich and poor, domestic
violence, unemployment, pollution, urban decay, racism and sexism, and many other.
Sometimes social issues arise when people hold very different opinions about how to
handle certain situations like unplanned pregnancy. While some people might view
abortion as the solution to this problem, other members of the society remain strongly
opposed to its use. In itself, strong disagreements on how to solve problem create
divides in social group.

Other issues that may be considered social problems aren’t that common in the US and
other industrialized countries ,but they are huge problem in developing ones. The issues
of massive poverty, food shortages, lack of basic hygiene, spread of incurable diseases,
ethnic cleansing, and lack of education inhibits the development of society. Moreover,
these problems are related to each other and it can seem hard to address one without
addressing all of them.

It’s would be easy to assume that a social problem only affects the people whom it
directly touches but this is not the case. Easy spread of diseases for instance may
temper with the society at large, and it’s easy to see how this has operated in certain
areas of Africa. The spread of AIDS for instance has created more social problems
because it is costly and danger to all members of society, and it leaves children without
parents.HIV/AIDS isn’t single problem but a complex cause of numerous ones.
Similarly, unemployment in Africa doesn’t just affects those unemployment but affects
the whole economy

The professionals generally share the same view on social problems faced by the
world. They, however, disagree on what are the real causes of the problems and how to
resolve the it.

An example is the problem of child abuse that occurs in the country. Generally, the
professionals are all in agreement that child abuse in the country is a pitiful
phenomenon and should be eradicated as soon as possible. What differentiate one
from another are their opinions on the causes and appropriate solutions. Some of them
feel that the main cause of abuse cases is low socio-economy level of the family.

Yet others think that drunken and irresponsible parents are the main causes of the
problems.

Other reasons put forward are lack of education, joblessness and broken family.
Differences on how to solve the problems also exist among the professionals. There are
those who proposed that the full weight of the law is brought to bear on the abuser
while others suggest the setting-up of counseling classes and so forth. Whatsoever the
views, the main issue to society is social problems is an agenda that require serious
attention.
