in and out of the band. At one point they had a
particularly difficult time finding a drummer.

• As the Beatles played more and more shows andclubs they
became more and more recognized in Britain.

•The Beatles first contract stated that they would receive one
penny per single sold. This was a lousy contract even for that
time period.

•Serious music critics began to take note of this up and coming


band around 1963.
Beatlemania
•As their popularity skyrocketed in the UK, radio stations caught
wind of this up and coming band. The first radio station to play
The Beatles was in Chicago.

•The song that really took off in the United States in the beginning
was the song “She Loves You”

•The first time that The Beatles came to the United States the
airport radioed ahead to the plane to inform them that there was
a crowd of 3,000 screaming fans waiting them….something that had
never happened before.
 Each then found success in an independent musical career.

Lennon was shot  Harrison died


and killed in 1980, of cancer in 2001

 McCartney and Starr remain active.

along with drums.

• The first band to incorporate woodwind instruments, violins, and


symphony orchestras into their music.

• The first Rock and Roll band to incorporate exotic instruments,


such as the sitar, into their recordings .

• the first band to incorporate odd sounds, gibberish, and non-sensical


phrases into their recordings.
FASHION
• introduced "Psychedelic" and "Acid" Rock and by doing so, influenced fashion,
music, and lifestyle everywhere, forever changing how we dress and think.

• The Beatles made facial hair popular among Rock and Roll musicians
and young men everywhere.
• first band to wear their hair below their ears, hardly ever cutting it.
• The Beatles were the first band to include posters and cut-outs
with their albums.
• The Beatles created the first music videos. Strawberry Fields Forever
and Penny Lane which were called, "Promotional Films".
