Indicates that you are taking care of yourself, and that is
important!
Pressure to look good
Mullah of Grooming!
Grooming: Women
NAILS!
 Gently shape nails with an emery board.

 Soak hands and nails for about two minutes in warm soapy water.

 Gently push back and remove cuticles with an orange stick or towel.

 Wash hands and lightly scrub to remove remaining cuticle.

 Rub a light oil or cream into fingers, nails and cuticles to help
moisturize.
 If you wish, finish with a clear or neutral color nail polish.

 Keep a small bottle of lotion to keep your hands moisturized.

Make-Up
 Foundation: Match foundation to skin tone for a natural look. Blend into neck
area so that there is no visible line. Foundation should be applied lightly.

 Face powder can also be worn with foundation or worn alone. It smoothes the
skin and eliminates facial shine.

 Eye makeup applied to the natural brow line is the most attractive. If you do
wear eye make up, match or blend with your natural color.

 Blush should be placed at the highest part of your cheeks and then blended in.

 Lipstick: Wear lipstick to compliment the color of your outfit. But do stay away
from extremely dark or bright colors or bright reds and fluorescent colors.
Hair
Your hair should complement your face and
complexion. Wear a conservative yet attractive
style for the Business Occasions.

Style hair so that it is away and out of your face.

Hair color should not be more than one or two

shades darker or lighter than your natural hair
color. Unnatural colors (burgundy, green, etc.)
must be avoided.

Four Levels of Business Attire
Traditional - matching suit
Business casual classic - sport jacket, classic
look
Business casual smart - 3-4 pieces, trousers,
collared shirt
Relaxed - more casual, denim
Three important aspects to be considered for
choosing your wardrobe:
•Your Line of Work
•Your Corporate culture
•Your audience
•Choose a conservative suit in navy, black or gray either pinstripe
or solid.
•Choose a solid or very subtle weave pattern or plaid (the kind
that look solid across a room).
•Wool, wool blends, or very high quality blends with natural fiber,
are the only acceptable fabrics for a conservative men's suit.
•When buttoning the jacket of a three button suit, fasten the top
two buttons. Single breasted
coat
•A double breasted suit should always be buttoned when
standing.
•The cuff of your shirt should extend about a half inch beyond a
jacket sleeve.

Ties:
Ties should be made of silk or a silk-like fabric.
•Go for simple and subtle prints Double breasted
pea coat
• The point of your tie should lay over your belt buckle.
Shirts:
Long-sleeved shirts, even in summer.
White or light blue solid, or conservative
stripes.
Less pattern and color.
Collars:
A classic "Straight" collar is appropriate
for all suits. It is traditional and
conservative.
The "Tab" or "Pin" collars are other
traditional shirts. They are both neat and
formal.
Trousers:
Fit is everything. Too big or too tight
throws off the balance of your overall
image.
Pant hems should clear the shoe heel,
but rest on the front of the shoe, creating
a slight break.
Socks:
Socks should be calf-length or above.
Make sure they match what you are
wearing.
Shoes:
Conservative, clean and well polished.
Lace-up shoes.
Preferably black or cordovan.
Wing-tips, oxfords and dress loafers.
Belt:
Black or cordovan leather, to match your
shoes.
Facial hair:
If worn, should be well-groomed.
Jewelry:
Conservative watch and a wedding ring
Accessories:
Briefcase, portfolio and pen.
Business Casuals
•"Banded" and “Mock” collars are nice alternatives to a traditional collared shirt
when a tie isn't required.
•The "Button-Down" collar is the most casual of all business shirts and looks fine
without a tie.
•Select this style in dressy fabrics, such as silk, for an evening appropriate “smart
casual” event.
•Khakis can be worn
•Loafers (slip ins) can be worn.
