Before you start work on this lab session, it is highly recommended that you carefully watch all
WEEK 1 video lectures of the AFCEH course. Answers to all the questions can be found within
the course video lectures or your text books. In case you have any doubts, clarifications or
questions, feel free to post your queries on the course mailing list or try to do a simple Google
search.

A)

Describe in detail 3 different techniques of protecting your identity and remaining anonymous
on the Internet.

B)

What are shortened URL vulnerabilities? How can you protect yourself against them?

C)

Use Ncat to perform network reconnaissance and find out as much information about the
following systems: www.ankitfadia.in and www.relianceworld.in.

D)

Carry out a ping & traceroute probe on the following systems: www.ankitfadia.in, 203.94.11.12
and 203.94.12.11. You may use any of the tools discussed in this section or your own tools. If
you receive “Not Reachable” or “No Response” as the output, then mention it in your answer.

E)

Part 1: Carry out a WHOIS probe on www.ankitfadia.in.

Part 2: Determine the various steps required to carry out DNS spoofing on a victim computer. In
other words, normally when a user types www.hotmail.com in the browser, then the Hotmail
website displays on the screen. However, if you want to display the Yahoo website each time
www.hotmail.com is typed on the victim’s system, then what are the steps that you need to
carry out on the victim’s computer.

F)

Carry out port scanning and daemon banner grabbing of ports 100-500 on the systems
www.relianceworld.in, www.ankitfadia.in and 203.94.11.12. You may use any of the tools
discussed in this section or your own tools. If you receive “Not Reachable” or “No Response” as
the output, then mention it in your answer.
