Bio:
Regina Agu was born in Houston, TX and was raised traveling overseas throughout
Africa and Europe, as her father undertook work with the United Nations, World
Health Organization. Her family has roots in both Nigeria and Louisiana. Agu's
artwork reflects her interests in migration and globalization, cultural and physical
transition. Upon returning to the United States to attend Cornell University and
subsequently relocating back to Houston, Agu continues to create work and actively
exhibits nationally.

About the artwork:

This series of work explores the movement of people and boundaries.

In my collage pieces, I reference photos and memories of my travels to Nigeria by

drawing images of women (usually relatives) and creating head-wraps using popular
food packaging materials. I use these exported materials, which I purchase here in
Houston, as a metaphor for the exporting of beauty standards, identity and people
across national borders.

The prints are limited-edition (edition of 8 per original piece) archival prints on
watercolor paper, available for $25 each.
