Green ideas needed

Oklahoma City’s Office of Sustainability is seeking public input on ways to

encourage sustainability within City operations, use resources more
effectively and demonstrate that the City is leading by example when it
comes to functioning more sustainably. The 2 to 10-year plan is called
Capital Green.

Those interested in offering their ideas are encouraged to attend one of two
Capital Green meetings on December 14. The first meeting will be held at
11:30 a.m. at the South Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, 701 West
Interstate 240 Service Road. The evening meeting is scheduled at 7 p.m. in
room 104 of the Automotive and Trades Building, Building 4, at Frances
Tuttle Technology Center, 12777 N Rockwell Ave.

Recommendations from the meetings will be integrated into the

department’s action plan.

The City’s Office of Sustainability was established in 2009 and is

responsible for enhancing the City’s energy efficiency efforts and promoting
sustainability throughout the organization and the community. The office is
funded through economic stimulus funds and grants.

Capital Green is designed to complement the City’s new comprehensive

plan which is underway called planOKC.
