Rationals Unit Assignment

Due: Friday at the end of class

This is a two-part assignment. It will be worth about 30-50% of your mark for this unit
on rational numbers. You will have some class time to work on it each day this week. It
will be due on Friday. We will do new material at the beginning of class on
Wednesday and Friday. Girls – if you’re planning to attend Women’s Health
and Wellness, this means you will have less class time, so more of the
assignment will be due as homework.

You must hand in something on Friday at the end of class. Late submissions will not be
accepted. Whatever you hand in on Friday will be your assignment.

Part 1 will be solving several problems involving rational numbers. You must show all
your work. Part 2 will be making up your own problems involving rational numbers.
You must also solve these, showing all your work.

You must also draw pictures to go with some of your problems.

Finally, if you want over 80%, you must somehow connect your problems with a story.
And, if you want over 90%, you must include a definition of rational numbers and
examples of rational and irrational numbers.
