is therefore defined as the arranging of related data in
an organized manner in order to provide useful

is the manipulating or processing of data which consist of
the actual operations performed on the input.
Classifying- is the process of identifying and grouping data
that consist of the actual operations performed on the input.
Sorting- physical arrangement of data to chronological
order, which is alphabetically and numerically.
Calculating- consist of performing one or more arithmetic
operations of data.
Recording- related to the documentation of intermediate
figures and facts resulting from calculation.
e.Summarizing- is the presentation of data in a compressed
and meaningful manner.

The main objectives of data processing department is
to supply computerized information services to the
organisation.
The DP operates the computer system that may
involve communication system,databases and
softwares.
It consist people from different proffesions
Principles of organisational structure
The objectives of the data processing activities and its
component should be clearly defined,agreed upon and
known.
Organisational structure of the DP department should
be flexible and must be reviewed periodically.
The reason for organising/re-organising must be
known and clearly defined.
Data processing activities and functions should be
grouped according to their objective and purposes.
The level of authority should be kept to a minimum
