Pulse High Voltage Generator
Pulse High Voltage Generator
Conzur,
generator using flyback.
mapanatili ang pulse width nito within 10 to 100 nanoseconds bago mawala ang high voltage supply.
pagkatunaw upang magawang 10 nanoseconds to 100 nanoseconds ang pulse width.
B.
C. Voltage Multipliers
FUSE BOX
Cockcroft – Watson Voltage Multiplier #1 @ x2 = 50kV
A.
10ns
Flyback Cockcroft – Watson Voltage Multiplier #2 @ x3 = 75kV
High Voltage
20ns
Generator Cockcroft – Watson Voltage Multiplier #3 @ x4 = 100kV
30ns
Nominal Output:
Cockcroft – Watson Voltage Multiplier #4 @ x5 = 125kV
25kV 40ns
The objective of the design is:
a. Ensure only a single high voltage pulse at a time by using copper wire fuse
b. Ensure that the pulse width (time) is controlled by the size of the fuse
(copper wire diameter)
c. Ensure that the 25kV travelled to the voltage multiplyer within the melting
time of the fuse, multiplied to the required high‐voltage, and discharged in
the electrode.
A. Fly Back High Voltage Generator: Ideal Nominal Output of 25kV (constant).
B. Fuse Box connecting A (Flyback Generator) to C (Voltage Multiplier). The
breakdown time (10nanoseconds to 50nanoseconds) of the copper wire, depending
on its diameter, will determine the duration of the high voltage pulse (e.g., wire
resistance against voltage, bigger diameter, longer time to melt/break).
Breakdown of fuse (melting of copper wire) at 25kV from flyback generator will
ensure that only single high voltage pulse passes through it at any time to the
Voltage Multiplier. If a 30ns high voltage pulse duration is required, then the wire
size that will melt under 25kV in such time will be used.
C. Voltage Multipliers. The basic design of the voltage multiplier will be from
Cockcroft – Watson voltage multiplier design (or better design). There will be
about 5 individual voltage multipliers (x2 to x6) in order to cover the required high
voltage range, from 50kV to 150kV and depending on the voltage desired, the
appropriate multiplier will be connected to the fuse box.
