Board Games or Bored Games?

For many years, before the invention of computers and X- boxes, Board Games used to be the main
source for pastime for kids as well as for adults. Board Games like ludo, snakes and ladders, were
games which were not restricted to any particular culture or creed and everyone would have played
them at least once in their lifetime. These games were quite simple to play and did not have many
rules. Another major advantage of such Board Games were, they were quite cheap and could be
purchased anywhere.

But with change in time, people started feeling the need to have much more complicated Board
Games which could be related more to life like situations. This led to the creation of a completely
different genre of Board Games like The great Train robbery, monopoly which involved complex
rules and could be played for hours. These games involved strategy and a certain amount of skill.

But, after the advent of computers, a completely new field came into existence which completely
put the Board Games phenomenon into oblivion. The computers were much faster and could
provide wholesome entertainment due to their capability to portray images and sounds and create a
feeling of simulated environment.

Gone are the days, when kids in every household used to sit together with friends and decide over
Board Games. Nowadays, everything is being discussed over the internet with virtual friends. People
don’t even know whether the person playing against you is a human being or just another computer
program.

It is high time kids realise Board Games are not entirely Bored Games and it can be more enjoyable
than any virtual reality games which have only been a health concern ever since its inception.
