A novel written by Leonore Fleisher based on a screenplay. Rain Man is the

story of a young man who regains his humanity through the unexpected love of a
brother that he never knew he had until now. Charlie Babbitts father passes away,

leaving him only a 1949 Buick Roadmaster that which the caused of their fight

between father and son, and a beautiful rose garden in front of their house. The last

will however saying that the house and his father’s money will be own by someone

else that Charlie did not know. Using his cunning, Charlie traces the remainder of the

inheritance, a trust fund, to an institution for the mentally challenged that is the

Wallbrook.

There, Charlie discovers the existence of a brother that he'd never known. The

person who inherits the 3 million trust fund from his late father known as Raymond.

Charlie abducts Raymond, which is an autistic patient, from the institute in the hopes

of ransoming him for at least half of the $3,000,000 trust fund. Raymond's fear of

flying forces them to cross the country by a road trip, during which the two brothers

reconnect.

During the trip, he had learnt a lot about Raymond. Raymond is a very special

person; he can count fallen toothpicks instantly and can remember things very easily.

Each time he reads a book he can remember each word in it. Charlie learns that he

had actually known his brother when he was young, mispronouncing his name as

"rain man,”. In the past Raymond had burned young Charlie badly in hot water and,

for this reason, he was forced to live at Wallbrook for Charlie’s safety.
By the time the two reach Los Angeles, Charlie's love for his brother has

rekindled the humanity within himself. He's left mystified by the enigma that is his

brother and grows from the experience, even turning down Dr. Bruners offer to walk

away for $250,000. For him, money is not as important as his brother. What he

chasing is not money anymore, but the love from his brother. But in the end,

Raymond had to get back into Wallbrook, and Charlie promised he will visit Raymond

with their father’s car.
