Origami Khezu

By Travis Waltzer
Begin with the Bird Base
Fold down the top front point
Fold the same point up until the top edge lies
along the middle of the shape
Fold the top of that edge down to the
Fold that edge back until the top edge is
bottom of the previous fold. Unfold
at the bottom of the fold
Fold the same point to the opposite
side…
Like so. Unfold
And you will have these lines
Lift up the top flap. Inside the form you
will be able to pull the edge out…
Do the same to the other side…
And you should have a pattern that
looks something like this.
Cut top layer along dashed line making sure to stop
at the center point
Fold the two flaps upwards
There should be two flaps pointing down. Cut
the left hand one in half by cutting along its
right side. This should give you three pointed
flaps instead of two.
Fold the form in half so that the “wing”
flaps are on the outside.
Turn the form over on its left side. Pick up
the first of the three flaps and…
Fold it down so that it lies across the wing
like so. Unfold.
Open the flap and inside reverse fold
Flip form over
Fold the top flap over and crease.
Tuck the flap underneath the “wing”
Fold the point at the front of the form
over and crease.
Unfold
Open up form and tuck the flap
inside.
Fold form back
Pull the end of the flap down and forward creating
the mouth
Fold the wing upwards…
And then valley fold it in half.
Fold the tip of the wing down. Crease and then
unfold. Fold back with an outside reverse fold.
Fold the end of that same tip back again.
This makes the “claw.” Repeat on other
wing.
Fold the leg that wasn’t cut backwards. Unfold
and…
Fold in with an inside reverse fold.
Form the feet by folding the legs back and
forth
Fold the tail down at an angle…
Like so…
Unfold and then open up
the top of the tail.
Folding it down in an
outside reverse fold
Crunch the neck back for effect…
And use a red drawing utensil for the
veins.
