Congratulations
You have survived the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or above years
teaching in the Korean Elementary School system.

So, how did you it?

WELL!!!
So, how can you become a
better teacher?
Just be yourself.
Continue doing what you are doing now because
you are doing something, right.
But there are always room for changes.

Having changes in mind, what is

teaching to you?
IT’S A RECIPE
We have the kitchen
(Equipment)
• A classroom

• A teacher

• Students

• A white board and stationary

• A computer

• Etc…
What about the ingredients
(resources)?
• Textbooks
• Storybooks
• Workbooks
• Activities
• Games
• Songs
• Videos
• Etc…
Now it’s preparation time.

• Each chef is different

• Some dishes take less time to
create
• Some take longer
• Already on the menu?
• Menus should change….
Execution..Let’s make it happen..
• Remembering the ingredients and when to
add them to the dish
• Energy
• How long to cook for?
• Arranging the meal
• Giving the students the tools to digest the
work
(confidence, atmosphere, reward & motivation)
If the customers like it they’ll
gobble it up
To wrap up….
• Be individual, don’t pressure yourself
• Get to know your students
• Learn, apply and develop
• Take an active approach – be open to
new ideas….
• If it works, it works. If it doesn’t,
change what could be causing the
problems.
Some ways to survive in the
Korean School System?

Try to understand some Korean expressions used by

students.
