DEG Bou OMG Hello and good evening to everyone, my name is Abel Bustamante. I've been living in the beautiful city of Albuquerque for about one year now. In the new innovative technology era that we in, internet has become a necessity instead of a luxury for many of us. For me, the Internet has become a necessity but with the price of a luxury. ‘As a college student who takes online classes through a school in Santa Fe, the internet has become vital to my success in school. | do not have internet at my house because I can barely afford rent and other bill, like electricity, gas and water. Without the internet | have to go look for a library or a café with free internet access. It takes me about 15 minutes to get to the library. That might not sound like much, but 15 minutes a day multiplied by the whole semester! That's a lot of time a week just looking for internet access. With a free and open Internet, | would be able to do my college work at home and spend more time studying than looking for an Internet connection. It’s not fair that I'm asked to choose between getting groceries and heat in my home and having Internet access for school. Internet is an important resource for school work, and it’s also a universal window of ‘opportunities. This is why I'm asking for you to urge FCC Chairman Genachowski ((Jen-A-Kow-Skee)) to pass strong net neutrality rules and reclassify broadband. | appreciate each and every one’s time to be here and make the Net Neutrality possible, and just like that old saying... "GIVE A MAN A FISH AND YOU WILL FEED HIM FOR A DAY, TEACH A MAN HOW TO FISH AND YOU WILL FEED HIM FOR A LIFETIME.” ‘Thank you. tel 505-828-3129 6400 Wyoming Bivd NE Albuquerque NM 87109 medialiteracyproject.org
