Rationale for final idea

My three ideas for this documentary are Knife Crime, Celebrities and Drugs and my last idea was
about why young people rap and the history of Rap. One idea I was going to focus on was why most
of the public blame gangs if there is a knife crime in their area but often this aren’t the case. My
main angle on celebrities and drugs would be to what influences this can have on young people. My
final idea is Rap the angle I am going to be looking at is why young people listen to it and how it
makes them feel. This can be a positive outlet for their anger and frustration about life. The idea I
chosen was the idea 3 about rap because it seemed like a good subject to do a documentary about
because I listen to rap myself.

I chose the idea 3 of rap music because I listen to rap music when I am angry and it calms me down
and another reason why I chose to do this idea is because there are loads of good young rapper out
there and it appeals to young people because that is my target audience.

The reason why I rejected the idea of knife crime and gangs was because other students in my class
were doing documentaries about knife crime and so I chose to do something different. This idea
would not appeal to all young people because it can be a scary subject to talk about. This idea would
inform and educate but at the same time it wouldn’t entertain because of the subject matter it could
also make young people feel stressed and depressed because they might be living in an area with a
high crime rate. I wasn’t sure how easy it would have been to get an interview with a crime prevision
officer or a member of the council. I thought it might be difficult to film this piece because I couldn’t
get a victim and the victim might not want to talk about it. The content of the idea is difficult
because it’s hard to do something different because it has already been done many times before.
Another reason I rejected this idea is because I thought it would be quite difficult to film some of the
scenes.

The reason why I rejected the idea about Celebrities and Drugs is because I didn’t think I could get
enough information on the subject about celebrities and Drugs to make it into a documentary. The
reason why I rejected this idea is because it wouldn’t necessarily appeal to all ethnicity owing to the
particular celebrities that I would be showing. The audience viability is that some people might not
be interesting in this idea because they are not into celebrities and drugs. The content viability one
of the things in this idea I would find hard is getting a celebrity because I don’t know no celebrities
who takes drugs. The technical viability of this idea would have been very hard to film because I had
to get a celebrity and I also have to find a person who does drugs like for example cannabis or
heroin.

The Conclusion

The reason I have chosen the idea about rap is because it is an interesting idea because it was
something different and also nobody has this idea before. In my documentary the angle I will look at
is why people listen to rap music and how it makes them feel. I also listen to rap when I get angry
because it calms me down and makes me forget about everything.
