Abstract

High Temperature Superconducting Transformer is using the high temperature

superconductivity principle to achieve considerably low losses. Since the main component of
the losses in the electromagnetic machines is the copper losses occurring due to the
resistance shown by the conductors used, the HTSCT reduces the resistances of the
conductors. Since low temperature superconductivity is difficult and costly to achieve low
temperature superconductivity is used and is achieved using liquid nitrogen as medium.

This technology also ensures reduction in the size of the machine. This enables the
use of the machine in trains and ships and increase in the capacity.
