The Minimum Wage Rates increased for various areas in Thailand for 2011. The Permanent Secretary of Labour Minister disclosed and the Cabinet approved the new Ministerial Regulation on Minimum Wage Rate which will take effect on January 1, 2011. The regulation increases minimum wages in different provinces ranging from 221 Baht in Phuket to 159 Baht in Payao.

Mr. Somkiet Jayasriwong, the Permanent Secretary of Labour Minister,
disclosed in Dec 9, 2010 that the Ministerial Regulation of Minimum Wage Rate (No. 4) dated in Dec 9, 2010 proposed by the Ministry of Labour was acknowledged and approved by the Cabinet. The Regulation will come into force in January 1, 2011.
