TOPIC : DATE STAMPING OF A PRODUCT

Objective :

At the end of the exercise student will get:

1. Understand the current flow when switch connected to solenoid.

2. Electro Pneumatic control.

Component required :

1. 1 off double acting cylinder.

2. 1 off 5/2 solenoid actuated directional control valve (24 V d.c)
3. 1 off electrical push button with (normally open) contacts and momentary operation.
4. 1 off pneumatic “on/off” slide valve.
5. 1 off 24 V d.c power supply.
6. Pneumatic tubing as required.
7. Red and lue electrical leads as required

Operational Procedure :

1. Connect a compressed air supply to between 2 and 3 bar pressure to inlet port of
“on/off’ slide valve.
2. Connect 24 V d.c power supply to the electrical distribution manifold.
3. Actuate the air “on/off’ slide valve to the ‘off’ position.
4. Ensure that the electrical power supply is switched “off’.
5. Following the pneumatic circuit diagram connect tubing between “on/off” valve, air
distribution manifold, 5/2 way solenoid operated spring return valve and double
acting cylinder.
6. Now following the electrical circuit diagram connect electrical leads between the
red/blue electrical manifold, electrical push button and the solenoid on the 5/2
directional control valve.
7. Check the assembled circuit against the circuit diagram.
8. Switch “ON” the 24 V d.c power supply.
9. Actuate the air “on/off” valve to the “on “ position.
10. Depress and hold down the electrical push button (S1) and observe the action of the
cylinder.
11. Release the electrical push button (S1) and observe the action of the cylinder.
12. Switch “off” both electrical power supply and compressed air supply.
13. Remove all pneumatic tubing and electrical leads.
14. Compare your observations with the written circuit explanation and answer the
question for this exercise.
